According to Chengdu University, recently, the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) has announced the approved project list of 2024 Korean Studies Grant Program. Among them, a project led by Dr. Wang Zizhuo, a young researcher from the Law School of Chengdu University, has been selected into the "Academic Research" category list. The project, titled "The Decision-making Process of Korean Low Fertility: Focusing on Social Mobility Expectations and Inequality of Opportunities", has been numbered AKS-2024-R089. This is the first time for Chengdu University to have a national-level international exchange and cooperation project in the field of humanities and social sciences.

"Dr. Wang Zizhuo's research topic aims to explore the social structural factors that lead to the low fertility rate trap," a representative from Chengdu University said, "The project team is comprised of experts and scholars within sociology and related fields from both China and South Korea. The successful approval of the project is of great significance for Chengdu University to actively expand its international exchange and cooperation in Korean studies."

The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), a public institution directly under the South Korean Ministry of Education, is the highest academic institution for philosophy and social science research in South Korea. The 2024 Korean Studies Grant Program is one of the largest funding programs organized by this institution. This government-led research program is aimed at promoting the development of Korean studies at overseas universities and research institutions, which annually selects projects of academic research, academic conference, academic book publication and translation, as well as cultural exchange activity, and provides financial support to approved projects. In 2024, a total of 52 academic research projects, 18 academic conference projects, 19 educational and cultural activity projects, 16 academic book publication projects, and 2 academic book translation projects have been selected. In recent years, several universities have been approved for this program, including the University of Connecticut in America, Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany, the University of Tokyo in Japan, Hiroshima City University in Japan, and Sapienza University of Rome in Italy. In China, universities such as Peking University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Jilin University, Shandong University, East China Normal University, and Yanbian University have also been approved for this program.
